Behind the Scenes at PurrfectlyFold – My Scottish Fold Cattery
Ever wonder what life is like in a Scottish Fold cattery filled with soft, round-faced cats and playful kittens? At PurrfectlyFold, every day is about giving our Scottish Fold and Scottish Straight cats the best care, love, and attention possible. Here’s a peek behind the scenes of our home-based Scottish Fold cattery.
My Morning
My day usually starts around 6 AM. The very first thing I do is check on the kittens—if we have any, they always come first. I weigh them and feed any supplemental meals they need to grow healthy and strong.
Next, I feed all the cats. While preparing their meals, I mix in their supplements—dental care, probiotics, fish oil—and a little quail egg yolk for extra nutrition. Watching them enjoy breakfast is one of my favorite parts of the day.
After breakfast, I:
Refresh litter boxes and tidy playpens.
Refill water bowls.
Vacuum the cattery every day, and steam-clean the floors twice a week to keep everything spotless.
It’s a calm, quiet time to bond with each cat and kitten, watching them stretch, explore, and start their day.
Life in the Cattery
Our cattery is a home-based, safe, and happy environment for our Scottish Fold cats:
We have four walk-in playpens, but they’re really for safety and organization only. Cats are rotated through them based on my breeding plans, health, or enrichment needs, never just for confinement.
Each pen has food, water, and a litter box, with extra boxes available in between rotations.
Queens and their kittens have a private nursery for quiet bonding and growth.
A quarantine space is used only if necessary, to protect everyone’s health.
Once kittens are old enough, they roam freely around the house when I’m home. Adult female cats roam too, depending on their mood and compatibility—no fighting allowed!
Midday Fun & Socialization
By midday, it’s time to check on everyone again:
Food, water, and litter boxes are refreshed.
Cats rotate through playpens for exercise and mental enrichment if needed.
Only one stud is out at a time, and queens are safely secured—no accidental litters, no stress.
I also spend time playing with the kittens, taking photos and videos, and sharing updates with followers about our Scottish Fold kittens growing up.
Afternoon Kitten Care
In the afternoon, I weigh and check on the kittens again:
Nursing kittens get supplemental feeding.
Kittens starting solids have wet food twice a day and dry food available at all times.
I make sure every kitten is healthy, happy, and socialized before the evening.
Evening Routine
Evenings are calm and peaceful:
Playpens are tidied, litter boxes refreshed, and food/water topped up.
Supplements or medications are given if needed.
Final kitten check-ins and feedings happen.
Floors are kept spotless with daily vacuuming and regular steam cleaning.
Then it’s quiet bonding time, the part of the day I cherish most.
Why I Love Raising Scottish Folds
Raising Scottish Fold kittens isn’t just a job—it’s my passion. Every kitten is handled with love, attention, and care from day one. My goal is to raise healthy, confident, and socialized kittens who will bring joy to their new families.

Cats are sensitive animals, especially to substances processed through the kidneys. Many everyday items can be highly poisonous to cats. If you suspect your cat has been poisoned, contact a veterinarian immediately—early treatment can save your cat’s life. Bring the container or product with you if possible, so the vet knows exactly what was ingested.
