PurrfectlyFold Scottish Fold – Comprehensive Kitten Purchase Agreement & Health Guarantee
1. Pet-Only Purchase [No Breeding Rights]
This kitten/cat is sold strictly as a pet, with no breeding rights. The Breeder will have the kitten spayed or neutered prior to transfer. Once proof of the procedure is available, the registration papers will be issued to the Buyer.
2. Vaccinations and Deworming
The kitten will receive two rounds of FVRCP vaccinations and appropriate deworming treatments prior to transfer to the Buyer.
3. Rehoming Notification
If the Buyer transfers ownership of the kitten/cat to another person, they agree to notify and obtain approval from the Breeder prior to the transfer.
4. Health Guarantee
The Breeder guarantees the kitten/cat is healthy to the best of their knowledge at the time of transfer. The Buyer must take the kitten/cat to a licensed veterinarian within 48 business hours (excluding weekends and holidays) of receipt.
If diagnosed with a congenital or hereditary disorder, the Buyer may:
a) Return the animal for a refund of the purchase price (excluding vet certification costs) within 10 business days.
b) Exchange the kitten for another of equal value from a future litter.
5. Notification of Health Issues
The Buyer must notify the Breeder within 2 business days of any veterinarian’s determination that the animal is unfit for sale.
6. Submission of Veterinary Certification
Written certification of unfitness must be presented to the Breeder within 3 business days after receipt by the Buyer.
7. Post-Transfer Health Disclaimer
After 48 hours from transfer, the Breeder is not responsible for:
Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
Any bacterial, viral, or fungal infections
Parasites or infectious diseases
These may be contracted after leaving the Breeder's home.
8. FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) Guarantee
The Breeder provides a 72-hour guarantee against FIP.
If diagnosed within that time, the Breeder will replace the kitten (no refunds), pending necropsy results from a licensed veterinarian.
FIP diagnosis after 72 hours is not covered.
9. FIP Awareness and Disclaimer
a. Understanding FIP: Buyer acknowledges that FIP is a rare and serious mutation of feline coronavirus (FCoV).
b. Breeder’s Best Effort: Breeder guarantees the kitten showed no signs of FIP at time of sale.
c. No Warranty: Because FIP can develop post-sale, it is not guaranteed against.
d. Post-Sale FIP: Buyer assumes all responsibility for veterinary care and acknowledges no refund or replacement after 72 hours.
10. Parasites
A veterinary finding of internal or external parasites is not grounds for declaring the kitten unfit for sale.
11. Genetic Health Guarantee
This kitten is covered by a 5-year health warranty (or until the cattery is closed) against 35 genetic defects identified through Optimal Selection testing of both parents.
If a covered genetic defect causes the cat's death, and the Buyer provides a necropsy report, the Breeder will provide a replacement kitten from the next three litters. Buyer must make reasonable efforts to treat the condition, as determined by the Breeder.
The following genetic conditions are screened using the Optimal Selection DNA test on both parents. If any of these result in the kitten’s death within five years, and a licensed veterinarian provides a necropsy report, the Breeder will offer a replacement kitten.
