Cat Health 101 — How to Know When Your Scottish Fold Cat Isn’t Feeling Well

🧠 Know Your Cat When It’s Healthy

  • Observe your cat’s normal behavior, appetite, and grooming

  • Every cat is unique — changes from their norm are the first sign something’s wrong

👀 Eye Health

  • Clear, bright eyes with no redness or discharge

  • Watch for the third eyelid showing too much — possible illness indicator

👃 The Nose Knows

  • Should look clean and smooth

  • A constantly runny or crusty nose may signal infection

😺 Mouth & Gums

  • Gums should be pink and teeth mostly white

  • Bad breath or red gums = potential dental issue

👂 Ears

  • Should be clean and odor-free

  • “Coffee ground” debris can mean ear mites

🧴 Coat & Skin

  • Fur should be shiny, smooth, and odor-free

  • Cats that stop grooming themselves might be unwell
